Question.

A body floats 2/9 of its volume above the surface. What is the ratio of the body submerged volume to its exposed volume? Re-write it as a rational number.

Solution :

Body exposed Volume = 2/9

Body submerged Volume = 1-(2/9)

                                         = 7/9

Ratio of body submerged to Exposed Volume

= 7/9 : 2/9

= (7/9) ÷ (2/9)

= (7/9) x (9/2)

= 63/18

= 7/2

Ans. 7/2 OR 7:2
